For the 49th time, Geelong businesses put forward valued employees to become Give Where You Live Loaned Executives. A total of
35 individuals visited workplaces around Geelong to thank current supporters, let them know where their valuable support has made
a difference, and encourage others to consider supporting through Workplace Giving.
“The role of the Loaned Executive is changing,” commented Program Manager, Leigh Johnston. “They still are vital to promote Workplace Giving, but their personal and professional networks are important to help us increase the supporter base of Give Where You Live.” Team 2014 really stepped up to the mark introducing new Workplace
Giving organisations to Give Where You Live and we are now exploring partnerships with them which include corporate donations,
and sponsorship opportunities. Furthermore, the team generated an extra $70,000 annually through Workplace Giving sign-ups!
Each year one Loaned Executive is awarded the Gordon Murray Award (named in honour of Gordon Murray, who helped establish our organisation). This is presented to a Loaned Executive who demonstrates exemplary commitment to the role. At the recent Loaned Executive Awards Evening, John Recourt from Herd Group of Companies, was announced as the 2014 recipient of the award. “I’m very honoured to have received the Gordon Murray award. Being a Loaned Executive, is up there as one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. Until this, I really didn’t have an appreciation of the great work Give Where You Live does, and how fortunate the Geelong Community is to have such an organisation.” Other nominees for the award were Dee Cooper (Arthur Reed Photos), Melissa Van der Ploeg (Coulter Roache Lawyers), Meg Pethybridge (Davidsons Accountants), Janice Lister (FCCS Credit Union), Miranda Halma (GMHBA) and Paul Erskine (WorleyParsons).
