Geelong Politicians and business leaders gathered at Norlane’s Urban Seed Community Centre for the launch of the GROW Strategic Plan.
The event involved a presentation from Give Where You Live CEO Bill Mithen, G21 Chairman, Geelong Mayor Darryn Lyons and Christine Couzens MP.
“GROW is about bringing along those people who are most disadvantaged as the region grows and prospers. It is in nobody’s interests to have sections of our community left behind” Mr Mithen said.
“Nothing like GROW has been implemented on this scale in Australia” said Cr Darryn Lyons, Mayor.
G21 CEO Elaine Carbines said that “Colac, Corio/Norlane and Whittington will be the initial focus; where unemployment is at double digit levels, and well above regional and state averages.”
“People in disadvantaged areas need lots of opportunities to grow including jobs and infrastructure” said Christine Couzens MP.
