The Give Where You Live Foundation is thanking the wider Geelong community for its generosity in helping the Foundation invest over $2.6 million into the G21 region over the 2022 – 2023 financial year.
Give Where You Live Foundation CEO, Bill Mithen said thanks to the generosity of individuals, local businesses and several trusts and foundations, the Foundation had again provided critical support to the community through its own change initiatives and grant funding.
“We’re proud that the Foundation has been able to invest over $2.6 million into the Geelong community to assist people experiencing crisis, promote food security and improve education and employment opportunities.”
“This year the Foundation has continued to increase investment in our own change initiatives including our GROW, Feed Geelong, Community Choice voucher program and our latest initiative, The Paddock. It is through this work that we are trying to ensure greater equity in our community so that all people and places thrive.”
“Our annual grants program continues to be a core part of our work and this year we provided $1.5 million of funding across 60 grants to 47 community partners.”
“We can’t undertake the work we do without the generous support of our community. This includes more than 3000 individual donors and regular workplace givers, and over 200 local businesses who support us in our work. Special thanks must go to our three Platinum Partners AWA Alliance Bank, TAC and Fagg’s Mitre 10 for their ongoing support,” Mr Mithen added.
This year the Foundation invested $176,483 into its Community Choice program which helped almost 30,000 people and their families to access food, pharmacy and material aid. In addition, through the Foundation’s grant funding to community partner organisations, another 50,000 people were supported to access food relief assistance and reduce food insecurity.
The Foundation’s GROW initiative, which aims to change the outlook for areas of high unemployment in the G21 region, supported 140 employment outcomes across the region.
