2024 Feed Geelong Appeal: Your donations at work

In June, thanks to the generosity of public donations received during the 2023 Feed Geelong Appeal, Uniting Vic Tas received a $20,000 grant from the Give Where You Live Foundation.

This funding has been vital in enabling Uniting Vic Tas to continue providing critical emergency relief services from their Norlane and Grovedale sites, offering much needed food relief for those most in need in the Geelong community.

“Funding from the Give Where You Live Foundation allows us to provide essential services to the most disadvantaged members of our community. Many people are forced to choose between paying for food or bills, school fees or medicine. With this support, we can help ease that burden by providing immediate food relief,” said Uniting Vic Tas, Group Manager, Homelessness & Community Support, Jerry Ham.

In addition to this grant, over the past six months, Uniting has also been allocated almost $50,000 worth of food, pharmacy, and material aid vouchers, thanks to the Give Where You Live Foundation’s Community Choice Voucher Program. This initiative has supported 3,684 people, including *Sarah, who was referred to Uniting Vic Tas by Orange Door after fleeing family violence with her son. Initially living in her car, Sarah eventually secured a rental property and was able to use Community Choice food vouchers to stock her pantry, along with material aid vouchers to help furnish her new home.
