The 33rd e&s Golf Classic raising funds for the Give Where You Live Foundation was a resounding success, raising over $106,000 to help create a fairer community.
A sold out field of over 120 golfers from close to 40 local businesses, tee’d off for the community on Friday 7 February at the Curlewis Golf Club.
For the first time in the event’s 33-year history, the Foundation added a new offering to the card, with ‘Driving for Change’ held at The Range @ Curlewis, an exciting opportunity for golfers and non-golfers alike to get involved. Over 30 guests enjoyed time in the driving range, competitive round of mini golf and plenty of fun along the way. The new event provided laughs and networking opportunities while raising important funds for the Give Where You Live Foundation.
Give Where You Live’s new CEO, Zac Lewis said funds raised at the 33rd e&s Golf Classic will assist the Foundation to continue to help create a fairer, more equitable community through a focus on food security, homelessness and inclusive employment across the Geelong region.
“In my first week as CEO of the Give Where You Live Foundation, it was wonderful to take part in the e&s Golf Classic and witness the generosity of the Geelong business community firsthand. Seeing so many people come together on both the Curlewis greens, and driving range was fantastic. A huge thank you to our long-term presenting partner e&s, our venue sponsor Curlewis Golf Club, luncheon sponsor Adroit and all of the businesses who participated and donated prizes. We’re proud to announce this year’s event raised over $106,000 for the Geelong community.”
“This now takes the total raised from the event over the past 33 years to more than $2.3 million to help the Foundation create a fairer community.”
“We’re working hard to create a fairer Geelong and we can only do that with the support of our community. The amazing efforts of all of our sponsors, prize donors and participants will help those most in need in our community. As the cost of living continues to rise we’re seeing more and more people in Geelong facing unemployment, homelessness, and struggling to put food on the table.”
At this year’s event golfers enjoyed a range of fun activities out on the course and at the driving range, including the opportunity to win a Rex Gorell Volkswagen at the hole in one, complimentary haircuts by the Wandering Barber and entertainment by an on course DJ.
The luncheon, hosted by Ben Casanelia, featured live entertainment from musician Noah Vernon and a live fundraising auction led by Whitford Real Estate’s Peter Forte, which saw some very spirited bidding.
The winning team, from Kerr’s Hire led by Gary Kerr, included team mates Jarrod Kerr, John Owen and Matt Johnson. Taking home a year’s supply of golf balls from Peter Toyne Clubhouse Golf, and wine from Leura Park, the winning team celebrated with the coveted Kaye Sinclair Perpetual trophy.
In attendance was close to 40 businesses from across the region, including Beyond Bank, Built, Faggs Mitre 10, Novotel, and Peter Toyne Clubhouse Golf.
