Last financial year the Give Where You Live Foundation’s Community Choice voucher program supported over 13,446 people in our region.
The initiative provides emergency relief in the form of food, pharmacy, and material aid (household goods and recycled furniture) vouchers, which are provided to local Community Service organisations who distribute them to members of the community seeking assistance. We’re pleased to be extending the program to enable more people in our community the dignity and choice when seeking emergency relief.
Recently, we have introduced the Community Choice voucher program to Bannockburn. By working closely with the Golden Plains Shire Council, and their ongoing efforts to support financially challenged community members in accessing food. We are proud to partner with the council and Hesse Rural Health in delivering this program to help create a fairer community.
As part of Bannockburn’s introduction to Community Choice, we’re pleased to welcome Shazzas Fruit & Veggies to the voucher program. With over 30 years of experience, this family-owned business has been a cornerstone of the Bannockburn community, offering fresh, high-quality produce and so much more. Thanks to Shazza and her amazing team, people can now redeem their Community Choice food vouchers in store, ensuring access to essential household needs.
Terry White Chemist in Bannockburn is also now participating in the program and vouchers can be redeemed for prescription medications.
Hesse Rural Health, a community support agency in Bannockburn can now allocate our Community Choice vouchers to residents they are supporting in the Golden Plains Shire.
We’re so proud of the Community Choice voucher program that not only involves many in our community, it supports the people in our community, and helps to create a fairer, more equitable community.
