Feed Geelong are proud to announce that over $30,000 has been distributed to support 8 programs in the Geelong community that work to address the food crisis that many are facing in our community. The Feed Geelong 2013 grant recipients are:
Bethany Community Support, $1,129
To purchase the correct food handling equipment to support the distribution of cold food items by Bethany staff and volunteers (Hamlyn Heights and Grovedale offices) to families in need.
Christ Church community Meals program, $10,000
To build a cool room and complete other needed renovations to increase the capacity of the Christ Church Community Meals program to deliver healthy meals to those in need through their breakfast and evening meals programs.
Collins Street Baptist Benevolent Society Inc. trading as Urban Seed, $2,881
To purchase two new ovens for the kitchen in Norlane Baptist Church where all meals are cooked for Urban Seed programs (Long Room dinners, Kids Club and Community Development program) in Norlane.
Geelong Ethnic Communities Council trading as Diversitat, $10,000
To sustain and expand the services to collect and distribute food to those in need provided by the Hunger for Knowledge program. This includes support for a warehouse space, delivery vans and additional freezers and refrigerators.
Geelong Food Relief Centre, $3,500
To purchase trollies, benches, and tables for the Geelong Food Relief warehouse to support the more efficient collection and distribution of food.
Geelong Mums, $1,194
To purchase infant feeding equipment (bottles, teats and microwave sterilisers) to be distributed through local welfare agencies to mums from highly disadvantaged backgrounds.
One Care, $3,677
To purchase an oven and freezer to maintain and expand the Community Meal program which provides food assistance to those who are disadvantaged in our community.
Thrive Community Incorporated, $820
To purchase a freezer to store frozen emergency meals to distribute to disadvantaged individuals and families in our community.
